Leader Review Policy
The following Leader Review
Policy exists to ensure safe and enjoyable recreation during
DV- AMC Chapter activities:
Policy for Conducting Leader
Reviews:
1. All complaints regarding a leader must be forwarded
to the Leadership Chair.
2. If an activity committee takes any disciplinary
action against a leader, the activity committee must promptly notify the
Leadership Committee of the action taken and the reasons for this action.
3. The Leadership Chair must present all complaints to
the Leader Review Committee (LRC). The
LRC has broad oversight responsibility for leader performance, and its
decisions will be considered final.
4. To conduct a review, the LRC must have a physical
meeting in which all members are present.
5. To serve as a reference for the leader under review,
the LRC must present to the leader in question the following:
o
A written
summary of the complaint(s) relating to the leader
o
A copy of this
Leader Review Policy
o
A copy of the
OLDC Leadership Guidelines document.
6. The leader must submit a written response to the
Leadership Chair within 10 calendar days of presentation of a complaint.
7. The LRC has the right to honor the anonymity of any
complainant.
8. The LRC must have a majority vote to recommend one of
the following 3 options:
o
No Action
o
Issue a warning
o
Revoke leader
privileges
If no action is taken:
The LRC will notify the leader in writing that the review is complete and no action will be taken.
If a warning is issued:
1. The LRC must present the warning to the leader in
writing
2. The warning will include an explanation of the
actions or behavior that resulted in the warning as well as specific actions to
be taken by the recipient to properly address the warning.
The LRC or its designees reserve the right to audit future trips led by the warning recipient to ensure compliance with all Club and Chapter requirements.
If a leader is revoked of
privileges:
1. The LRC must notify the leader in writing of the
reasons for the revocation.
2. The LRC must present the Leader Review Policy (this
policy) with the revocation of privileges.
3. The LRC will notify AMC’s Volunteer Relations
Department of the revocation and furnish documentation of the review process
upon request.
The
Leader Review Committee (LRC) shall
consist of at least 5 members including the
Chapter
Chair, Vice-Chair, Leadership Chair, the immediate Past Chapter Chair, and the
Activity
Chairs of the leader under review. If
any of these are unable to serve on the LRC for any reason, a replacement will
be designated by the Chapter Chair so that there will be at least 5 members.
