DV Chapter Activities Weekend
Hike, paddle, swim, chill!
Friday to Sunday, September 22-24, 2017
Once again we will head north to the AMC's Stephen and Betsy Corman Harriman Outdoor Center which is nestled on the shores of beautiful Breakneck Pond.
Harriman State Park is the second largest park in New York at over 47,500 acres. It offers spectacular vistas, forested mountains, numerous lakes, unique rock formations, hidden mines and abundant wildlife.
Throughout the weekend we will offer different level hikes in this spectacular park. The New York City skyline is visible from some of the mountaintops we will be visiting. There will be free time to swim or paddle in the lake. Kayaks and canoes will be available for us at no charge thanks to the generosity of the NY/NoJ Chapter who has covered the fees for all of 2017.
If the weather is clear we will offer an optional two mile easy round trip night hike to the ridge line where we will view the lights of New York City.
HOC is located in the southern part of scenic Harriman State Park and is only about a 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hour drive from our chapter area depending on where you live. GPS coordinates for HOC, 41.2093597, -74.0930684
