PFDs (life jackets) must be worn on all trips when on the water. Helmets must be worn by all paddling decked boats on Class 2 or higher trips, and for all open boats on Class 3 or higher trips.

For Class 2 and higher trips, paddlers must provide their own equipment: Canoe or kayak suitable for whitewater with flotation and grab loops or handles, a helmet, life jacket, spray skirt for closed boats, paddle and clothing suitable for water & air temperatures. Paddlers must have the necessary skills, be able to wet exit their boat, swim and self-rescue in a rapid: swim boat and self to shore, get back in boat, or Eskimo roll.
