At the AMC Delaware Valley Chapter, we know what you want out of a 20s/30s program: exciting outdoors adventures and a chance to connect with peers who love outdoor activities as much as you. We make it super easy because most of our activities are free (unless there is an outfitter cost) and open to all. Just find an event that attracts you, register, and show up. We take care of the rest!
Here’s how it works:
Outdoor Adventures: The Delaware Valley chapter offers activities for people in their 20s and 30s in eastern Pennsylvania and north-central New Jersey. We run events most weekends in and around Philadelphia/Philadelphia suburbs, the Lehigh Valley, and Hunterdon/Burlington/Mercer/Somerset counties in New Jersey.
You can expect:
Hikes in parks, preserves and cities in PA and NJ
Bike rides along the Delaware River and other trails
Paddling (kayaking and canoeing) in the Philadelphia suburbs or NJ waterways
Trail Maintenance at Valley Forge and other local parks
Backpacking/camping in local wilderness areas
Special activities, like indoor rock climbing
We mix our events with social outings, like picnic lunches, stops at local breweries, and tasty ice cream cones after a long hike on a warm day.
Educational/Social Activities
Opportunities don’t stop with outdoor adventures. Check out one of our workshops about native plants, trail maintenance, backpacking gear, bike maintenance, and more. Or maybe you’ll join us for a summer concert in the park at one of the many local bandshells.
Leadership Opportunities
Leader training is one of AMC’s strengths. After you’ve joined activities and hit your stride, you may want to share your favorite hiking or biking spots with others. Just talk to an AMC leader and we’ll steer you through the leadership process.

Join AMC: You do not have to join AMC to participate in our trips, but it’s a great organization that does a lot more than just offer outdoors events. It also actively supports conservation, outdoor education and land preservation. In other words, some of the outdoors that we enjoy is available courtesy of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
