The Lehigh Valley Group is a sub-group of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club which runs activities to bring outdoor enthusiasts from northeastern Pennsylvania together.
The group usually holds meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM (except December, July, and August) at Illick’s Mill, 100 Illicks Mill Road, Bethlehem, Pa 18017. Meetings are now held via Zoom during the Pandemic.
The meetings start with announcements about upcoming hikes, activities, conservation efforts and trail work projects. This is followed by a program on topics such as adventure travel, geology, wildlife, nature photography, etc. Speakers have provided programs on a wide range of travel destinations including the Canadian Rockies, the Galapagos Islands, Kenya, India, Machu Picchu, Corsica, and Nepal.
A social hour with refreshments follows. Meeting attendance ranges from 30 to 50 people, including longtime AMC members as well as potential members who are interested in learning more about AMC and its activities.
