Volunteer Web Content Manager

This is an awesome volunteer opportunity for someone who would either like to learn new design/code skills or add another case study to their portfolio!

It is an exciting time to join us as a volunteer for the Delaware Valley Appalachian Mountain Club website. With your collaboration and help, we will be updating to a new design! A web design and user experience that is much better than the design we have today.

In addition to this you will be responsible for the ongoing blog posts and updates to copy/text, images and graphics across the website. You have a lot of opportunity to use your creative juices (within the branding guidelines of course) to make the website an awesome place for the community members.

Responsibilities:

  • collaborate with current members and volunteers.
  • update CSS and HTML as needed
  • update graphics as needed
  • follow branding guidelines
  • implement updates the website upon requests
  • collaborate on a new design of the website
  • pay attention to the industry WordPress and in website design
  • ask question and learn from peers
  • communicate with the web team on any topics that need attention

Qualifications:

  • Appalachian Mountain Club member
  • Previous job experience trouble shooting or problem solving
  • Previous experience working as a team
  • Possesses a can do attitude
  • Willingness to learn HTML and CSS if you are not familiar with it.
  • Previous experience working in image editing
  • Previous experience updating content within a Content Management System (CMS)
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism

Great to Have:

  • interest in the outdoors
  • previous WordPress experience
  • digital design skills
  • Experience with branding guidelines
  • previous experience with creating or editing in HTML, CSS.
  • understanding of flex block and responsive design
  • understanding web design standards and fundamentals
  • Adobe CC experience
  • Adobe CC experience
  • user experience, web development, computer science, marketing, design or equivalent experience
  • desire to learn and solve new problems
  • collaborate with a team environment
